Missouri State University Foundation

FAQ

What is the All-University Campaign?
It is a campaign for all members of the campus community to participate by supporting the areas of the university that are most dear to our heart.  It is an internal effort specifically focused on the participation of all employees, faculty and staff of the campus.

Why is faculty and staff giving important?
As a member of the Missouri State University faculty and staff, we are uniquely aware of the need for additional investment in our programs, people and infrastructure.  We also know that additional investment will pay significant dividends in terms of the student experience, the well-being of our university and our future.

Missouri State University gets money from the State of Missouri. Why do we need private gifts?
As with universities across the nation, the funds that have traditionally supported higher education have been drastically reduced. In fact, last fiscal year, state appropriations provided less than 50% of our total university budget. Private gifts are sought to make up part of the difference. Participation from faculty and staff by making a personal commitment is especially important. By participating in this campaign and by supporting areas we care about most—whether it is student scholarships, faculty and staff development, new programs or discretionary dollars—we demonstrate to others that we value this institution not just as our employer, but as an important contributor to society.

I already give to Missouri State University every semester because I use my own money for classroom, lab and educational travel expense. Does that count for participation in the All-University Campaign?
Yes, by documenting a legitimate expense, we certainly can receive credit for participation. Please contact the Office of Development at x64143 about receiving a gift in kind form or please find one online at www.missouristate.edu/giving. Tax credit will be receipted if the gift qualifies within the standards defined in the IRS guidelines.

I can only give a modest amount. How can that possibly make a difference?
Our goal is participation. Every gift is important!! The All-University Campaign shows the power of each individual. One person's gift adds to another's, and another's, and together, our gifts add up to a significant amount. But most of all it demonstrates to the other alumni and friends who have invested on our behalf that we share their commitment.

If I currently do payroll deduction, does that count towards the participation goal of the current campaign?
Yes, we will count all current and new payroll deduction gifts towards the All-University Campaign.

Will my supervisor know if I gave or not?
Yes, unless you want to be anonymous; in which case the Office of Development will work with you to set that up. You still receive the validation you need for tax purposes and we count your participation but your name is not released. We would ask you to consider allowing the fact you made a gift be public knowledge. Your gift will encourage others to give as well.

Where do All-University Campaign gifts go?
You decide what you want to support. A list of examples for each work group is included in the participation packet, but additional fund information can be found online at www.missouristate.edu/giving.
