Missouri State Way

What is the Missouri State Way Campaign (formerly known as the All-University Campaign)?

It is an opportunity for all members of the campus community to participate by supporting the areas of the University that are most important to them. It is an internal effort specifically focused on the participation of the campus community. All donations, regardless of amount or designation, made by faculty and staff during the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) count toward the Missouri State Way faculty and staff giving total.

Missouri State University gets money from the state of Missouri. Why do we need private gifts?

As with universities across the nation, the funds that have traditionally supported higher education have been drastically reduced. In fact, last fiscal year, state appropriations provided less than 38 percent of our total University budget, compared to nearly 70 percent in 1990. Private gifts are sought from alumni, friends, parents, faculty, staff and even students to make up part of the difference.

Why do faculty and staff give to Missouri State?

The reasons faculty and staff members choose to give are as unique and personal as each individual. There is a common factor for all — a passion for Missouri State University and our students. In addition to enhancing programs and facilities, financial support by faculty and staff also serves as a contributing factor in the University’s eligibility to receive grants from major corporations and foundations.

What do Missouri State Way gifts support?

You decide what area of the University you want to support. A searchable database and directory of accounts can be found online here. Please review the database to make your designation. If you don’t locate the area you want to support, call the office of development at extension 64143.

How does payroll deduction work, and does it count toward the campaign?

You may elect to have an amount automatically deducted each month through payroll deduction. To sign up, download and complete the pledge and payroll deduction form. All current and new payroll deduction gifts will be applied to the Missouri State Way Campaign.

I already give because I use my own money for classroom, lab, and educational travel expenses. Does that count for participation in the Missouri State Way Campaign?

Yes. By documenting a legitimate expense, you can receive credit for participation. Please call the office of development at extension 64143 about receiving a gift-in-kind form, or download the form. Tax credit will be receipted if the gift qualifies within the standards defined in the IRS guidelines.

Thank you!I can only give a modest amount. Why is my gift important?

As members of the Missouri State University faculty and staff, we are uniquely aware of the need for additional investment in our programs, people and infrastructure. Our goal is participation. The Missouri State Way Campaign shows the power of each individual. One person’s gift adds to another’s, and another’s — and together, our gifts total a significant amount.
