Mental Wellness on the MSU-WP Campus
For several years, MSU-WP students have had access to counseling services off campus through the university’s professional services contracts with area counseling providers. Today, an on-campus counseling center and resources provide immediate, short-term counseling services to better meet the increasing mental health needs of the study body.
ASCEND - Autism Support Can Empower New Directions
The ASCEND (Autism Support Can Empower New Directions) Program is the first of its kind in southern Missouri. It offers specialized support services for students with autism who wish to embark on a traditional college degree path to reach personally-chosen goals.
The Grizzlies WIN Mental Wellness and Neurodivergence Fund at MSU-West Plains benefits students in the MSU-West Plains campus.
Students in the ASCEND program receive service in academic support, executive functions development, social strategy support and daily living transitions. ASCEND encourages and fosters self-confidence, self-advocacy and growing independence while students work toward an associate’s degree. The Grizzlies WIN Mental Wellness and Neurodiversity Fund at MSU-West Plains benefits these students and those facing mental health challenges.
