Foundation Scholarship Committee Member Training
Thank you for serving on a Foundation scholarship selection committee! As an individual with access to the Scholarship Manager software, through which all donor-funded scholarships at Missouri State University are selected, we wanted to provide you with some resources to help you understand Foundation scholarships and the selection process.
Foundation Scholarship Awarding Timeline 2025-2026
- November 1
Instructors inform students that the online application is open for scholarships to be awarded in 2025-2026. - February 7
Chairperson requests any committee changes. - February - March
Scholarship committee training and individual training sessions are offered by Kelsey Menefee, Director of University Advancement Relations. Check My Learning Connection and your email for dates and updates. - By Mid-February
Fund balances for 2025-2026 scholarships are available and updated in the software. - March 1
Student application closes and letters of recommendation are due. - March 10
Committee members begin to review applicants. All chairs will receive email notification once all banner data has been uploaded into the software. - After March 10
Chairs complete automatically renewable scholarships first. System provides automatic renewals to be confirmed. Ineligible, graduated or students with declared intent to graduate need to be removed by the Chair in the software. - By April 24
Those with a need-based scholarship request the needs list or need report from Kelsey at the Foundation. We will return need reports within 5 business days. - By May 1
Chairs make all scholarship selections in the software and notify Kelsey once complete. Include any special awarding instructions at this time. Once notified, we will begin processing and approving your selections. - March - May
Upon final Financial Aid approval, the Foundation will send student notification letters. Notifications can be sent immediately or delayed until a specific date. Email us if you have specific needs. Notification emails will direct students to their scholarship manager portal where they will see scholarship details, credit hour requirements, renewal requirements, and thank you letter instructions. Thank you letters are submitted online and are accepted through December 31.
